Competitions and Scholarships

The Rochester Chapter has a strong focus on supporting young organists because we believe it is the best way to ensure our profession remains alive and strong.  Beginning in May 2014, the chapter sponsored a competition for high school pianists.  The first and second prize winners received scholarship funds to begin organ study.  We also awarded $1000 in student scholarships to assist four student chapter members with funding for professional development projects.  The Rochester chapter continues to offer assistance to new and established organ students through our annual piano competition and professional development grants

In July 2013, our chapter welcomed 27 young organists from around the country and France to participate in a week-long educational program called the Pipe Organ Encounter Advanced.  We also hosted a Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza event in November 2013 to introduce young people to the pipe organ.
